This client is the leading and most successful off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the world. The Company focuses on large-format, value-oriented retailing concepts that provide merchandise well below regular department and specialty store prices.

Client Opportunity
  • The client asked Niteo to assess requirements for future Internet development initiatives.
  • While the client knew that portals would be a good fit for a collection of planned Internet projects, their project goals required validation. The objective of the project was to assess the current state and futures plans and determine the applicability of a portal platform.
  • On a follow-up project, Niteo was asked to create a portal compatible design to guide the in-progress development of components for HR Intranet functionality.

Niteo's Solution
Niteo assisted the company with Strategic Vendor Selection, which included:
  • Discovery sessions with numerous stakeholders
  • Definition and management of a strategic portal vendor selection process consisting of a weighted evaluation scorecard and vendor visits

Following the initial engagement, Niteo was asked to implement components of their HR Intranet design. This involved:
  • Analysis of the active development of the IIS-based HR Intranet solution, which resulted in learning that the information architecture and navigation model was not conducive to a portal framework
  • Portal technical design implementation concepts that were articulated to facilitate future migration

Client Result
  • WAs a result of Niteo's work, the team was able to provide the client with a discovery report of current state and future plans and a portal vendor recommendation.
  • The acquisition of portal software was made, along with a comprehensive plan for installation.
  • An HR Intranet was designed to be "portal compatible," saving significant rework for future migration to portal platform.
  • A portal product technical design report was developed for future use.
